So, you know how every couple of entries in this journal re-affirm how I should not be left in charge of my own life/soul, let alone the grades of impressionable teens? YES. This is one of those entries.

I saw Harry Potter in the middle of the night last night because, dammit, it is ingrained, sir, twill endure wind and weather--and YES I quote Shakespeare in a totally douchetastic way--but HARRY. YES. He's been important in my life for a long time and I will never, ever care if the movies are (a) good, (b) accurate, or (c) infantalizing. I JUST WON'T. I refuse. I'm a conscientious objector to any discussion about quality and Harry Potter.

BUT I TOTALLY LOVED THIS MOVIE. As a movie, as a Harry Potter movie, as a thing to do with two+ hours of my life. I LOVED IT. And, Dobby, you will ALWAYS be the free elf of my heart. I raise my glass to you, sir.

But THEN. AFTERWARD. I got home in the wee hours of the morning and thought to myself, Self (as you do when you address yourself) Self, I thought, it'd be silly to set an alarm for the morning. You don't have anywhere to be till 3 PM. Even you can't sleep that late.

I would like to inform Last Night Self that she is STUPID. Because I woke up at 2:55PM and had to bike to campus sans coffee and sit through a whole bureaucratic bullshit session on whether "First Year Composition" is a hurtful title for the course that is, in fact, a composition class for first years because sometimes sophomores and juniors end up there after failing multiple times and we wouldn't want to hurt their dainty feelings, now would we also without cofffeeeee.

So, kids, today's lesson is this: Harry Potter should not dissuade you from setting an alarm.

Or something.

On the plus side, I got accepted to a panel on Darwin at the NeMLA this year--held at my undergrad! I can stay at home, chill with my dad, reboot my native Jersey-ness. It will be AWESOME.

[EDIT: This is my pet project. I will update it when fic makes me squee.]

I have been keeping this private for ages on my Private Person lj but I thought the public (which never actually sees this journal so, yeah) would benefit from my painstakingly accumulated list of awesome. You will note--if you are there, which is already as unlikely as Jodie Foster being the representative of the human race to aliens but it's still an awesome imaginary scenario so I will stick with it--that I speak to myself a lot. I tend to do that. Especially because of the existential crisis that is speaking to a public thing you think the public isn't reading. I will warn (assuming the existence of) you that, like, 99.999% of this is slash. I think one or two women may have made it on but it was against my better angels.

Title: Helluva Thing
Summary: Remus reviews the how's and the why's of him and Sirius the year after they graduate from Hogwarts.
Disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by JK Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.
Author's Notes: Amazingly enough, after writing a total of four (or was it five?) fanfics that experiment with narration, I have once again written a fanfic that experiments with narration. It is my first Remus-as-narrator fic, and I do adore Remus. I just keep going through the fanon story and making up scenarios in each era... I've already covered MWPP era, post OoTP, post PoA... Really, all I had left was the time immediately after Hogwarts. By the way, Remus and Sirius are the only characters here except for an amazingly original plot-device set extra. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More archival. No judgements, please! I mean, you CAN judge...but it wouldn't be nice. These were written YEARS ago. )

posted for archval purposes only. Don't judge me by this! )

Snow White with a twist )

Yes, this is odd. I do not deny that. But there IS a context in which it makes sense... read this. It is not the type of fanfiction I usually enjoy (mostly because of that bittersweet ending which I won't ruin for you), but the image of Sirius drunk in a Snow White costume was just plain ol' irresistible. This was a VERY quick drawing, one of the shortest I've ever done in my life (outside the realm of the margins of my notebooks), but it was still a LOT of fun. soavefanciulla is a GREAT writer, even if you don't usually go for the whole Wolfstar ship. Be warned, though, it is not appropriate for all ages. :-p

Lupin and a wolf, very sketchy )

This is a pretty old sketch, I did it maybe four or five months ago. It's still pretty much my favorite of my Lupins, so I thought I'd share here. And yes, there is a wolf/dog in the bottom corner. It's there because I was doodling ni the bottom corner for not apparent reason except maybe that wolves and Remus are related, though I doubt my reasoning progressed so far at the time. I did also have a sketch of Sirius that I drew immediately after this Lupin, which I used for endless amusement (if you lack a brain and are easily amused, as I am) by having the two drawings talk to each other. ^_^*

I've had this ongoing ... I guess you could call it a series... of realistic depictions (and when I say "realistic", you have to blur the lines a bit. Realism is not my forte) of Harry Potter characters. This is the latest. I was just wandering around a Gary Oldman site, looking for a pic to use as a model for a Sirius Black pic, when I realized that I hadn't done any YOUNG Sirius or Remus pictures. Now, I LOVE and ADORE young Sirius and Remus, so the problem had to be rectified IMMEDIATELY. Hence the young pups. :-)
