Trip with Maggie Part 1

This is the chronological first half of the trip. It's Tokyo...we were there until just after New Year's, which was dull since everything was closed.
Fun with Signs

Fun with Dogs...he was sitting outside a temple

The idea behind this tradition is about getting as much of the smoke onto yourself as possible.

Me and Maggie theorized that they put the little knitted hoodies on the statues to keep them warm in winter.

We called in the Golden Turd

Since Maggie stalkerishly took pictures of well dressed Japanese teen-folk for the entire trip, I though some tribute ought to be paid. Here's to Maggie and the eternal quest for a good shot of someone else's shoes!

A shop display in Harajuku

A street in Shinjuku, where we were staying

This guy just stood there, not moving AT ALL and chanting quietly.

We went to the Tokyo Zoo but, alas, 'twas closed. All we got was a bunch of reeds and a seagull.

A cool stray cat.

One of the many places we found New Year's wishes

After wandering around for a good long time and getting increasingly irritated, we discovered this sign where we had first stood somewhere around a half hour earlier.

A beautiful souvenir street

Do YOU know how to use a toilet?

Maggie and Tokyo

On our last day, wanderign around trying to find something open

Underwear in Harajuku

Toast, anyone?

The controls on the toilet

Fun with Signs

The ends of Maggie's Cinnamon Toast (the size of a Mac Truck) and my Choco-Parfait (parfaits always have cornflakes in them)

Tea and coffee far above Tokyo

Outside the Kabuki theatre, we saw this cool ojiisan.

Maggie looking like a million bucks

Priest sighting!
